The differences between a backyard breeder and a reputable breeder
$200.00 - $400.00 a dog • I had to specify what breed I was wanting (they had 3-4 breeds to choose from) • No shots • No pedigree • No health guarantee • Dogs were undersized and they were proud of the fact - “They are so Tiny, they will be ½ the size of a normal Min Pin.” • I could take the puppy home at 6 weeks • Offered colors that are not allowed in AKC shows – Blue and Fawn • Tails were docked (on some) • Ears were left natural “We think they look cute that way.” • No spay/neuter contract • No contract whatsoever • But they had lots of puppies available – all the time
$600.00 - $2,000.00 a dog First, they would not even discuss puppies with me until I had answered their questions. Why are you interested in Miniature Pinschers? What pets have you owned in the past and what happened to them? Do you have children, what are their ages? Vet references, yard fenced, other pets, own or lease your home, affiliations with pet stores – the list went on and on and on. Once I successfully answered their questions they explained they had a 6 month to 1 year waiting list! But, here lies the difference. • Puppies come with all their shots, shot records and vet check up • Not only did they have Pedigrees, but had at least 50 Champions • Lifetime genetic health guarantee • 1 year health guarantee • Dogs were bred to be within the AKC standard for size • Puppies were not allowed to leave their home until they were 8 weeks or older. • Tails were docked • Ears were done (unless specifically requested by buyer) • All came with spay/neuter contract • Prices differed according to Companion/Show Puppy as did the contract. • Waiting lists • Lifetime puppy take back contract • Lifetime support and mentoring
